Mirabeau

"The Seine flows beneath the Mirabeau Bridge…"

On the border between the 15th and 16th arrondissements, the Mirabeau Bridge is located between the Quai Louis-Blériot and the Quai de Javel, near Rue de l’Amiral-Cloué and the Pont-Mirabeau roundabout.

Mirabeau

It was Apollinaire who paid tribute to the Mirabeau Bridge in a famous poem, and immortalizes it.

Designated a historic monument in 1975, construction began in 1893 at the initiative of then-President Sadi Carnot. It is adorned with four sculptures representing Commerce, Navigation, Abundance, and the City of Paris.

The two architects behind this innovative bridge—built of metal rather than stone to allow ample access for river traffic—would later go on to design the Alexandre III Bridge.
